Family and Friends

Definition of Miracle:
“A miracle is an extraordinary event caused by the power of God. Miracles are an important element in the work of Jesus Christ. They include healings, restoring the dead to life, and resurrection. Miracles are a part of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Faith is necessary in order for miracles to be manifested” (Guide to the Scriptures, 165).
On the mission you really see so many miracles you can pass by some not even realizing that they are miracles. You look out for miracles more and you grow faith in things to see more miracles. In gospel principles this past Sunday we learned that there are no such things as coincidences, but rather they are blessings.
This week I got to see lots of miracles in this amazing area. We started of the week at a family home evening with the Martinez family that just got baptized. We watched the testament movie about when Jesus comes to the Americas. The kids just loved it and the spirit was so strong as the movie ended and we reflected back on the things Jesus has done for us. On Monday we also received a phone call from a lady from Chile who had just moved here and wanted missionaries to come to her house. The next day we went over to her house and she told us that a friend had introduced her and her son to the gospel in Chili. She has just moved her with her fiancé. From Lds.org she has read a lot of the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants and the relief society book Daughters in my kingdom. We were just amazed at the things she was telling us. "She said I want an eternal family." She has been really sick lately so we called a member to give her a blessing. It was a very beautiful blessing and the spirit was really strong!
For a while we have been working with this part member family and this week we saw tremendous progression in them. The mom has already started sharing the gospel with others and testifying why she is going to be a Mormon. The mom said she thinks its so amazing with through our lessons and praying as a family she has seen that her kids are now better behave and listen better. The ultimate miracle we saw with them this week was that they came to church for the first time as a family. The mom took notes the whole time in gospel principles and relief society. The kids loved primary and were already chasing around other kids in the gym.
Sunday was a very special day because many people came to church! A member walked into Relief society bringing a family to church that hasn't come in a year! Another less active family came and brought one of their friends that we have been teaching.
The last Significant miracle that happened this week was the older couple we have been teaching whose son is a newly member of the YSA here got to go and listen to there sons patriarchal blessing. They were so amazed by the spirit and the patriarch they both said with out a doubt we know the patriarch is a man of God. The mom also got to receive a blessing of her own this week because she has been in the hospital with back problems. The Elders gave her an awesome blessing to help her!
I’m so thankful for these miracles I get to witness everyday I really try hard to stay worthy for these miracles that I see out here! With miracles there are also great and funny times. A few this week were getting lost in a catholic church we were touring on Monday, multiple, multiple times trying to convince Spanish people that we have already eaten WE PROMISE.. nope okay we are eating again, eating such hot Haitian food that they even provide a napkin to wipe your nose and eyes, passing a sign that says your on the next island ooops turn around! Law of chastity lesson to 9 year olds, carrying big beds down stairs.. Sister missionaries can do anything =)
I love this work and I know its the work of the lord join us and have miracles for yourself! I love you all
xoxo
